Independent film's It Boy took to blockbuster status like a duck to water (or maybe like a "Robin" to flying) with his supporting turn in The Dark Knight Rises, and held his own against Bruce Willis in the time-bending, critically-embraced thriller Looper. He finished off the year as Abraham Lincoln's son Robert in Steven Spielberg's presidential biopic. ”

Following his Oscar win for The Fighter, Bale strapped on the outfit for the Caped Crusader for the final time in Christopher Nolan's highly-anticipated The Dark Knight Rises, and proved himself a superhero off-screen too by spontaneously (and without a press following) visiting those injured in the tragic Aurora, CO theater shooting. ”
6: Channing Tatum
The Sexiest Man Alive was a one-man box-office bonanza this year, starting off with the romantic drama The Vow (opposite Rachel McAdams, then moving on to the surprise hit comedy 21 Jump Street (opposite Jonah Hill), and, er, climaxing with the male stripper extravaganza Magic Mike (opposite even more sexiest men alive).
